Regional Conventions 2018: A Collaborative Win for the Movement

 In Church of God, Convention

The first registration deadline for the Phoenix and Oklahoma City Regional Conventions will soon be upon us! You don’t want to miss the early-bird rates for the event nearest you. These regional events do not solely represent Church of God Ministries bringing people and programming to five regions across the country; they are collaborative experiences, uniting local churches and regional ministries together to bring life to attendees, their local congregations, and their communities.

At Phoenix and Oklahoma City, we will welcome Don Wilson as our special guest speaker. The founding pastor of the expansive and influential Christ’s Church of the Valley is a local, but will be a visitor to the Church of God family. We have a long history of inviting and welcoming those into our conventions who don’t call the Church of God movement “home” as a way of extending fellowship and welcoming their unique voice and perspective. We’re excited to have Don’s Spirit-filled teaching, experience, and heart for the local church as a part of our lineup for the first two Regionals. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements of the special guest speakers for Columbus (Ohio), Fairfax (Virginia), and Safety Harbor (Florida).

The Western Area Regional Ministers (WARM) have again this year (as they did in 2016) moved their meeting dates and location to join with the Regional Convention. This collaborative effort creates energy, conversation, and space for area pastors to come together for ministerial business, as well as training, networking, and fellowship. It’s another example of our movement gathering to learn and grow as one!

A third exciting feature of each of the five Regionals is the involvement of the host church. Each host church will coordinate their own worship teams and leadership for the Regional event at their location. They will also offer electives on our Tuesday training day with their staff leading sessions on a variety of topics (for more information about the electives, go to www.chogconvention.org, click on the location of your choice, and see the schedule). These will be wonderful opportunities for us to share in the expertise, passion, and calling of the host church, and see firsthand how they are giving life to their communities.

Join us! Be part of one of these gatherings this year and experience the unity of a movement on the move!
