Credentialing & Registration
Credentialing happens within a community of people pursuing vocational ministry, often a pastoral role, under the guidance of leaders experienced in ministry. It provides clarity on the appropriate pathway of understanding one’s call to vocational ministry and the necessary steps to embrace, develop, and fulfill that call. It is a critical part of maintaining best practices in vocational ministry.
The Church of God movement is organized into 49 assemblies, most commonly by geographic region—others by demographic makeup. Each assembly has a Credentials Team responsible for ministers in that assembly. All credentialed ministers, and those seeking credentials, are accountable to this team.
The candidate begins the credentialing process with this team, then continues through the process in a cohort setting through a mechanism called Leadership Focus.

Part of maintaining an approved credentials status involves annual registration for ministers and churches.
Registration is a way to express individual and collective commitment to being part of the Church of God movement. In addition, it gives us an opportunity as a movement to act in one accord for the future of the church. Annual registration is a statement of covenant relationship and a requirement of all ministers according to the current version of the Credentials Manual.
Registration helps make the work of the General Assembly at home and abroad possible. It provides a sustainable platform for everything from Global Strategy to Christians Broadcasting Hope, to Leadership Focus and more.
We’ve made it easy for ministers and churches to process your registration through our online portal:
