Rev. Kevin Stiffler, of Tulare, California, will become the new adult curriculum editor at Warner Press upon the retirement of Rev. Sam D. Collins on August 1. Rev. Stiffler will work from his home office in California while Rev. Collins will continue to serve as a consultant for Warner Press.

“We are delighted to have Kevin return to a leadership role in our national curriculum program,” said Joe Allison, Warner’s editorial director of discipleship resources and curriculum. “He brought exceptional vision and creativity to his work as youth curriculum editor at Church of God Ministries. We believe he will make an even greater contribution as adult editor.”

After leaving the youth editor post in 2009, Rev. Stiffler served on the recruitment staff of Indiana Wesleyan University. Most recently, he has been associate pastor at First Church of God in Santa Maria, California.

Rev. Collins completes thirty-four years of service at the national level, first on the staff of Church of God World Service, then as writer-Sam-Collins-webeditor for Church of God Ministries, and ten and a half years as adult curriculum editor. He began writing a humorous commentary on church life entitled “Doodling in the Dust” for Vital Christianity magazine in 1978 and continued that column with occasional interruptions in ONEvoice!, Communion, and CHOGnews under its original title and as “For Leaven’s Sake.”

“The Church of God is indebted to Sam for his faithful service during these years of critical transition at our national offices,” Rev. Allison said. “In his own inimitable way, he has challenged us to think critically about our faith and practice.”
