Two New Editions of Stafford Book
This month, Warner Press, Inc., releases two new editions of Gilbert W. Stafford’s book Theology for Disciples. First published in 1996, this textbook is now required reading at several American colleges and seminaries.
A Spanish translation, titled Teología para Discípulos, is being introduced by the Concilio Hispano de la Iglesia de Dios at a conference in Cincinnati this month. Underwritten by the Concilio and the Literature Endowment Fund of Warner Press, this translation will be distributed free of charge to Spanish-speaking ministers of the Church of God.
Warner Press has also begun shipping a second English edition, thoroughly corrected and newly typeset, for the fall academic season. Several institutions of higher education, primarily in the evangelical Wesleyan tradition, use Theology for Disciples as a core text for their introductory theology classes. In addition, most state credentialing bodies of the Church of God require ordination candidates to study this book.
Dr. Stafford taught at the Anderson University School of Theology until shortly before his death in March 2008. Highly regarded as a Christian scholar and ecumenical leader, he also served as speaker for the Christian Brotherhood Hour radio program.
