The Power of One: NAC Wednesday Night Service Preview
By Allison Suer
Who is your giant? All of us who have a faith in Christ have come to that faith with the help of someone. Perhaps it’s someone who saw a potential in you that you couldn’t see for yourself. Maybe you weren’t even looking, but someone saw what you didn’t see. Maybe you were walking the dangerous road of being a newly shaped believer, the way was strewn with obstacles much too large to overcome. Perhaps fear and uncertainty clouded your judgment and made the path impossible to follow. How can you follow God when you can’t even see the path right in front of you?
In these pivotal moments in your life, someone step forward to encourage, strengthen, and walk along with you. A giant comes alongside and helps you see what we cannot see for yourself. Your giant helps you understand God’s love and direction for your life. A giant can be anyone—a parent, a coach, a friend, a random person God brings into your life on the way to work. Maybe you are someone else’s giant. No matter who they happen to be, faith giants all do the same thing: they motivate and challenge us to see God’s claim on our lives and encourage us to hold steady in the faith.
Tonight, we honor the power of one, the power of one individual on one life. All it takes is that one person to come alongside and help light the way. No matter where that person is, no matter where you might be, you wouldn’t be where you are on your spiritual journey without that giant’s seeing your potential and stepping up.
Jim Lyon and Chuck Myricks host this evening full of special guests, surprise music, and faith-filled stories of people and their giants. It’s time to recognize those who have paved the way for us. It’s time to gratefully lift up those giants who have lifted us up in our faith journey. It’s time to celebrate the power of one! Who is your giant? Be prepared to share it with someone on this special evening.
Jim Lyon is senior pastor at Madison Park Church of God in Anderson, Indiana, and host of ViewPoint, the English radio broadcast of Christians Broadcasting Hope. Chuck Myricks serves as the minister of finance and development at Arlington Church of God in Akron, Ohio, and as chief operating and development officer of the National Association of the Church of God. He is also the founder of Divine Hope, a gospel music ministry that travels throughout the United States, Europe, and South Africa.
