On August 29, 2016, disaster hit too close to home for the Church of God in Tanzania. A fire broke out in the high school boys’ dorm at Aldersgate Education Center at about 8:20 in the evening. Though none of the ninety boys were physically injured by the blaze, most of their belongings were destroyed and some had to be treated for emotional injury. Aldersgate, a school for nusery-age through high school students in Babati, Tanzania, provides education for Church of God laity and prepares leaders to strengthen the church of tomorrow. That’s why it’s so critical to ensure the continuing ministry of Aldersgate. Rebuilding has begun, but because of a lack of adequate emergency funds, the school desperately needs your help.

These boys lost everything from bedding to books, clothing to foot lockers—an estimated total loss of about $5,700. Until restoration is complete, these boys have taken shelter in other locations. While rebuilding began within a few days of the fire, it has not been a simple task. Without emergency funds, the school has been forced to tap into cash reserved for faculty and staff salaries. A total of more than $13,000 is needed for re-roofing, reconstruction of interior walls, and bed repairs. This is where the Church of God must step in. That’s you and me.

Please prayerfully consider how you might step in and make a difference at Aldersgate. Give online at http://chogglobal.org/giving-opportunities-africa/#Tanzania, or send your donation to Church of God Ministries, PO Box 2420, Anderson, IN 46018. Be certain to clearly designate your gift to Tanzania Aldersgate School, Project #42.40473. For more information, contact Erin Rockhill at 800-848-2464, ext. 2185.
