NAC Worship Workshop: Not Your Typical Seminar

In All Church of God, NAC: North American Convention

Worship—a time of thanksgiving, praise, and surrender. While worship services are typically times of reflection and remembrance for most people, some leave unaffected by the worship experience. Some worshipers accept personal responsibility for the experience, but many blame the leaders of the church, particularly worship team members and leaders. So how do we change the negative emotions and bring joy and life back into worship? It takes the combined efforts of many to create results that penetrate the soul and leave a lasting impression. It all starts with leadership, and this year’s NAC worship conference, “Worship 2012: Permeate, Renew, and Refresh,” is just the place to learn how.

The Society for Church of God Worship president, Joanie Frymire, explains that the conference title and purpose of the workshop is to “permeate the lives and heart of the leaders and worshipers they lead and to renew and refresh their spirits, tools, and lives.” Frymire expressed that the decisions of the worship leaders are not always thought through, resulting in a less inspiring worship experience. In order to prevent such an outcome, Frymire explains that the worship workshop will focus on creativity: “We want to enhance the way people worship, creatively and with understanding. As a group, we will learn to creatively think about how we worship and how that will affect others; not just express creativity for the sake of it. The church needs to creatively experience worship so that it makes it new, makes it fresh, and gives it some life!” If your church is looking to make worship a meaningful, life-changing experience, then this workshop is just what you need!

The worship workshop, on Saturday, June 23, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, will include moments of worship, use hands-on methods specific to areas of worship, and facilitate networking to “encourage, and gain knowledge and perspective.” This workshop will also include worship experiences by noted speaker Dr. Jeffery W. Frymire, worship leader Nathan Stewart, and artist Maggie McCollum. This workshop will assist in the development of worship leadership positions, including choir members, choir directors, worship leaders, ministers of worship, tech crew, senior pastors, drama teams, instrumentalists, worship bands, and other worship team members. Registration begins at 8:30 AM in Fine Arts Room 102, but lunch will be provided for those who register online at Tickets are $20 per person, $25 with a spouse, and $15 per person for five or more from the same church. Attendees will also receive a free copy of the music book Songs from the Heart.
