At any given moment, crises of varying degrees of severity persist in parts of the world. Some receive more media attention than others, but the impact on individuals, businesses, schools, and often local Church of God congregations must not be overlooked. Regardless of news coverage, the ministry of Church of God disaster relief ensures funds reach the people who need it most. One example is Malawi, ravaged by floods caused initially by Tropical Storm Ana in late January.

Persistent rains from additional weather disturbances brought further death and destruction in the months that followed, further complicating and destabilizing an already volatile situation on the ground, where flooding over recent years has become an all-too-frequent problem. Diagnoses of disease, such as malaria and cholera, have skyrocketed as contaminated water supply endangers the health of locals; Church of God congregations have not been immune from this onslaught, but have worked tirelessly to be the hands and feet of Jesus even as they struggle to endure. Considering the plight of the people of Malawi and neighboring countries, from damaged churches and homes, to ruined crops and lives lost, the Church of God has rallied in prayerful support.

As Church of God people around the world continue to pray for the Church of God in Malawi, Church of God Ministries was blessed to approve $20,000 in assistance. Specifically, this funding would help provide emergency shelter for 2,800 Church of God households whose homes were destroyed, aid to 31 damaged/destroyed Church of God facilities, and emergency nutrition and sanitation assistance to 8,400 Church of God people. In the long-run, the Church of God in Malawi seeks assistance in reconstruction of church building lost and recovery of agricultural yields.

Church of God Ministries is only able to respond swiftly when disaster strikes because it maintains a disaster relief fund. In crises where an immediate response is critical for relief, Church of God Ministries advances funds in anticipation of a gracious outpouring of donations from churches and individuals. Disaster Relief contributions are utilized to bring relief to those affected by disasters in Ukraine and Malawi, and far beyond.
