CANCELATION NOTICE: INGLEWOOD REGIONAL CONVENTION

By Ben Shular

Due to the ongoing effect of the COVID-19 outbreak, Church of God Ministries announces the cancellation of the Church of God Regional Convention in Inglewood, California, previously scheduled for April 22–24, at Center of Hope LA. For Church of God Ministries staff, this has been a very difficult, but necessary decision in light of the most recent recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Regretfully, registrants of the Inglewood Regional may have received notice of room cancelation from their hotel before we could communicate this news. We apologize for this unfortunate occurrence; it happened without our consent.

Church of God Ministries is in the process of contacting each registrant for the Inglewood event and providing three options regarding their registration fee:

  • A refund of fees paid,
  • A transfer of registration to one of the remaining Regional Conventions (Anderson, Indiana; and Brooklyn, New York), or
  • A gifting of registration fees to Church of God Ministries to help with expenses already incurred.

After April 15, all registrants having not indicated their preference will receive a refund.

Ben Shular serves as chair of the Special Event Response Team (SERT) for Church of God Ministries.

Note: The Church of God Regional Conventions 2020 scheduled for Anderson, Indiana (June 24–26), and Brooklyn, New York (September 16–18), are currently expected to proceed as planned. For event information and registration, visit www.chogconvention.org. International Youth Convention (IYC) scheduled for July 3–6 in Orlando is also expected to proceed as planned.

Pastor Compensation Matters

1:00-2:30PM

Partnering with pastors and congregational leaders to understand and implement best practices for pastor compensation and financial health

Over the past several decades, the findings from research data from pastors around the country indicate that financial stress is the number one deterrent to pastors’ health and well-being. The topic of pastor compensation in the Church of God is important. Why?

  • The need to steward well church resources
  • One of the largest categories in the church budget
  • Church budget limitations
  • Need to lever a minister’s compensation
  • Almost 50% of Church of God pastors say that financial stress can make them feel like giving up.

Let’s talk about pastoring and compensation matters.

Sponsored by Church of God Ministries, the CARE Project, and Servant Solutions.
