Goldmans Accept New Assignment to Australia
By Dwayne and Kara Goldman
We are excited to officially announce that our new assignment will be serving in the role of youth and leadership development in Australia, partnering with Pastor David Ravell and Journey Church in their vision to raise a new generation of leaders for the Church of God in Australia. Today, as on many other occasions, we again stand amazed at how God moved in these circumstances. We are convinced of our call to work in partnership with this innovative church plant and team, to disciple and empower young leaders who will serve today and in the future.
We thank you for your ongoing prayers, encouragement, and support, especially as we have faced the unknown future. We have searched and waited during the reassignment process, knowing that God had a purpose and plan and would bring it to pass at the right time. Waiting is never easy, and we have been stretched in our faith as we simply had to be still and trust.
During the past several months, there have been several possibilities that we explored with Global Missions but none that really matched our skills and passion. From our days as youth pastors, to our time in youth and leadership development in Trinidad and Tobago, we’ve always had a passion for helping others discover and develop their calling. Our greatest satisfaction has been witnessing and working with a new generation of followers of Jesus as they struggle, question, and then realize their calling and begin their own faith journey.
We do not enter into this assignment lightly. Our whole family has accepted this call; each of us, including our children, believes that God has prepared and called us specifically for this task. At the same time, serving Christ is never without cost, and we know this means another move, adjustments to new culture, making new friends, and living a long way from our family and friends. Still, all of us are ready and looking forward to being part of what God is doing through Journey Church and in Australia. We anticipate a departure date in early January 2013.
