Field experience provides students opportunities to expand upon what is learned in the classroom. Shown above is the evangelism class involved in an open-air service situated just above the main road junction market in Majengo. The students assisted the Vihiga Church of God with its outreach in this community, resulting in several being added to the church. Pastor Steve, a graduate of Kima International School of Theology (KIST) in Kenya, was excited about the potential ministries these students opened for his church. KIST’s mission is to assist in developing effective and influential servant leaders for the church here in East Africa.

Spiritual Emphasis Week at KIST is a time set aside during the first term of each year to seek renewal of one’s passion in ministry and life. This was led by Pastor Michael, whose messages followed the chapel theme of the term—“The Day and Hour are Unknown”—adding “So Now is the Time to Seek Revival.” The students were challenged to seek revival in their own lives so they can bring revival in the church. A student named Charles testified to a renewed sense of calling to serve the church in pastoral ministries. He said he had been struggling to make sense of why he was at KIST, but that this time of spiritual emphasis had helped him to bring it all together.

Students are busy finishing their term papers and taking final exams which start this week while those in the USA are celebrating Thanksgiving; our celebration is therefore delayed until the students leave and last assignment is graded. The KIST campus falls “silent” for December.

The short rains have arrived, which allows our gardens to grow. We have been enjoying the freshly picked vegetables and are thankful for the Lord’s provision. We are thankful to all of you who support us with your prayers and financial donations, which allow for us to provide this missionary service at KIST.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
