ECFA RECOGNIZES CHURCH OF GOD MINISTRIES FOR INTEGRITY, STEWARDSHIP

ECFA—the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability—has recognized Church of God Ministries for its “commitment to integrity.” Church of God Ministries, which has a long history of accreditation by the ECFA, was noted as complying again in 2020 with the ECFA’s rigorous Standards of Responsible Stewardship. In a year remembered for its extraordinary challenges, including major financial hurdles, Church of God Ministries continues to be a ministry that Church of God pastors and congregations can trust.

Jen Neal serves as Church of God Ministries’ chief financial officer. She feels blessed to serve on a team that has earned the ECFA seal. She reflects, “I am proud and privileged to be a part of an organization that meets their high standards.”

Those high standards consist of seven distinct benchmarks drawn from Scripture. While accountability to God is of utmost importance, the ECFA insists that “outward appearance” (1 Samuel 16:7) does matter. 2 Corinthians 8:21 adorns the certificate awarded to Church of God Ministries at the end of last year, shedding light on the rationale for such accountability: “For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men” (NIV). The ECFA further explains that verses 20 and 21 express the responsibility of ministries to operate in such a way that “no one should discredit” (NAS) their reputation.

After all, ministries that proclaim the name of Jesus also communicate by their actions who Jesus is to the world. Jen reflects, “Being accredited by the ECFA shows the commitment of the organization to being responsible stewards of the generous gifts of their donors. We strive to be completely transparent and full of integrity. This should matter to a donor when they are looking for a trustworthy organization to support.”
