Disaster Relief Urgent Request
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” —Isaiah 41:10 NIV
In light of what has been classified as truly extraordinary need, the Church of God Disaster Relief Committee is highlighting an urgent request. The current scope of devastation from natural disasters around the world is beyond our scale of imagining. The Disaster Relief Committee is working with national leaders and regional pastors in the affected regions to meet needs. Would you help? Donate now to Disaster Relief.
Starting in late August, intense monsoon rains have been causing catastrophic flooding in India, Bangladesh, and Nepal, affecting more the 40 million people, including many in the Church of God. And recently, we have heard of flooding in Karachi, Pakistan. Church of God Ministries is currently responding to requests from Sanjay Murmu in Siliguri, India, and from Tapan Borman in Bangladesh.
The scope of devastation left behind by Hurricane Harvey in Texas is only now coming into full view as the floodwaters recede. Though media attention has shifted to the ominous threat posed by Hurricane Irma in the Atlantic, we recognize the cleanup and rebuilding work for hundreds of thousands of Texans has only just begun. As of September 6, the Texas General Assembly of the Church of God was estimating that $323,000 is needed to repair the homes of five pastors and the facilities of twelve congregations out of the forty-two that have been affected. Only with your help can we respond.
And now the Atlantic island nations of the Caribbean and the state of Florida are facing devastation from Hurricane Irma, one of the most powerful hurricanes ever recorded in the Atlantic. This storm, still in progress, is expected to cause considerable damage across Florida and potentially up the East Coast of the United States.
Almost eclipsed by hurricane coverage are the dozens of wildfires raging out of control in the United States, from the West Coast to the Upper Great Plains.

“Please pray for Karachi [Pakistan]. Severe floods have caused havoc in the city, especially poorer parts, i.e. Christian areas/colonies. Trash is everywhere. Sewage water is floating in the homes. [Due to damaged power lines] people are being electrocuted.” —Samuel George, Church of God in Pakistan
