It’s been nearly a year since the Church of God took a stand against human trafficking and for the cause of freedom. CHOG TraffickLight mobilized the movement in a way that many have observed as unprecedented. Since Church of God Convention 2014, congregations have collectively raised the banner of Jesus Christ and worked together as his hands and feet. The Church of God continues in the footsteps of Christ as his kingdom advances, reclaiming in Jesus’ name that which hell has stolen. At this year’s Church of God Convention, we’ll come together to celebrate what the Lord has accomplished through us.

Special guests from The Shelter in Cuttack, India, will join us for the occasion, which is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 23. During the event, the Church of God will also celebrate the one hundredth year of the vital ministry of The Shelter. Together we will praise the Lord for his work through the Church of God over the past year. We’ll hear compelling stories— directly from our special guests and through video presentations—of how God has used CHOG TraffickLight, and we’ll rejoice in the progress we’ve made in funding the fight. Churches are encouraged to hand-deliver offerings collected throughout the year to this gathering for a special offering that will be received to support the ongoing fight for freedom.

Abby Knowles is thrilled to host the celebration session alongside Jim Lyon. She has championed the CHOG TraffickLight cause from the beginning, and after a year of hard work, is blessed to reflect on the ministry’s success. “I have been amazed to see how the church has responded to the TraffickLight invitation,” she explains. “We have seen individuals and churches across North America find creative and sacrificial ways to give and become a part of the fight against human trafficking. I’m so excited to share stories of how these sacrificial gifts are making a difference across the world and our plans moving forward as we look to hit our million-dollar goal!”

“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD’S favor…”—Isaiah 61:1–2 NIV
