From its beginnings in the Philippines in 1992, Children of Promise, the Church of God child sponsorship ministry, has touched the lives of approximately 10,000 children in twenty-seven countries. Currently, 4,400 children are receiving nutrition, education, health care, and spiritual nurture through the generosity of individual sponsors and the compassionate care of more than 1,000 volunteers in local congregations across the globe. The board of directors, global staff, and sponsors and friends celebrated twenty-one years of ministry on Monday, June 24, in the Reardon Auditorium lobby. Children of Promise thanks the thousands of sponsors who have participated in this great effort to rescue, restore, and release children from the clutches of poverty and into the bright futures God has planned for them.

During the week before the Global Gathering, Children of Promise directors met for training and development sessions under the banner of “Sponsorship to the Max 2: Offering the Cup.” Seminars and discussions centered on such topics as medical issues faced by the children, grief and loss, disaster preparedness, sexual abuse, developing spiritually healthy children, program leadership and development, effective volunteer teams, and the power of one minute in shaping the life of a child. Thank you to the many individuals, groups, and congregations who supported this training effort.

Children of Promise extends an invitation to attend an open house reception at the COP Offices, 1201 E. 5th Street, Suite 10 (enter off Chestnut Street) on Tuesday, June 25, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. Come, visit our newly expanded offices, and meet the global staff.

Children of Promise is pleased to participate in the Global Gathering, standing together on behalf of children across the globe who desperately need our help. For information on how you can join this effort, visit the website at www.echildrenofpromise.org.
