AU’s McGuire Receives 2015 Nicholson Servant Leader Award

Anderson University junior Kacie McGuire recently received the 2015 Nicholson Student Servant Leadership Award for her servant leadership on campus and in the community. The award was made possible by funds directed to the university by Anderson University donors.

The award is named in honor of Dr. Robert A. Nicholson, president emeritus of Anderson University. The award was made possible by funds directed to the university by Anderson University donors. McGuire was selected by the Student Life Department to receive this award because of her involvement in service activities. She will receive $750 and be able to designate a charity of her choice to receive an additional $250. McGuire has chosen the Christian Center in Anderson, Ind.

McGuire is a nursing major from Portage, Ind. As a student at AU, she has participated in many service opportunities such as the Operation Foundation Project Anderson, White River Clean-Up, AU Campus Ministries, The Christian Center, and various work projects to name a few. Near her hometown, she has volunteered through the St. Mary’s Medical Center in Hobart, Ind. She has also served children with special needs through the iCan Bike Camp, a summer camp that teaches children how to ride bikes, as well as the Challenger Baseball League, a summer baseball experience for kids.

She is a member of the Center for Public Service at Anderson University and she has also been recognized for her academic work by being named to the dean’s list and membership in the Alpha Chi National Honor Society. She attends Celebration Church in Anderson, Ind., and Real Life Community Church in her hometown of Portage.
