AU Receives Grant for Community Service

Anderson University’s Operation Foundation Project Anderson (OFPA) recently received an Indiana Campus Compact (ICC) Student Community Service (SCS) grant for $873.

“This award is a demonstration of our student’s commitment to make positive impacts in the community,” said Stephanie Moran, Director of Community Engagement at Anderson University. “The two Falls School of Business students who wrote the grant, Andrew Newlin and Cameron Dodson, had no other mandate or agenda than to help meet the needs that exist in Anderson. OFPA has a desire to build relationships with Anderson residents through the actions of service. This grant will assist them in doing that very thing.”

The grant will be used during Earth Week, April 20-25, when OFPA plans to partner with the City of Anderson to meet the citizens needs either through work projects, repairs and painting houses, or mowing lawns.

Senior Chris Short, student director of OFPA and a biblical studies and psychology double major at Anderson University, said, “When it comes to OFPA our hopes are to truly build a relationship between the City of Anderson and Operation Foundation. We want to give everything we can to walk along the side of the people in this city and this comes from a desire to really serve the people we come in contact with and show the love of Christ to them and this city.”

Indiana Campus Compact (ICC) is a network of 35 college campuses that supports higher education’s efforts to develop students into well-informed, engaged citizens. Providing programs, services, and resources, ICC serves as a catalyst for campuses and communities to improve people’s lives through service-learning and civic engagement initiatives.

“Our relationship with Indiana Campus Compact allows us to build partnerships in the community and have the resources to make a positive impact in Anderson,” added Moran.
