AU Presents 53rd Annual Candles and Carols
The Anderson University School of Music, Theatre, and Dance will present the 53rd annual “Candles and Carols” Christmas concert on Friday, December 1, 2017, at 7:30 PM in Reardon Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
“All of us in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance are honored to continue this wonderful tradition that began fifty-three years ago,” said Dr. Jeffrey E. Wright, dean of School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. “We hope the variety of the performances will awaken a sense of wonder and hope as we celebrate the Christmas season in song and dance. The opportunity to sing the familiar carols of the season with more than 2,000 people is a special highlight of the evening.”
More than 200 AU students from the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance will participate during the service, including the wind ensemble, directed by Dr. Joseph Scagnoli; the orchestra, directed by Gert Kumi; the chorale, directed by Dr. Richard Sowers; the women’s chorus, directed by Dr. Joani Brandon; and the dance ensemble, choreographed by Shauna Steele.
The audience will have the opportunity to participate in the program through congregational singing and the candle lighting ceremony at the conclusion of the evening.
